Fabric Podcast #4

I could be going out on a limb here but Londons Fabric club could be akin to a Hacienda for the new millennium, albeit based in London as opposed to Tony Wilsons Manchester headquarters. It's perhaps Britain's best known nightclub and most respected. Some of the most popular (whether you agree or not with their rep is up to you) DJs have been invited to play sets there, most recently Ricardo Villalobos and James Murphy. Furthermore is their marketing strategy of not only targeting Clubbers, but through exclusive mixes and live mixes, hitting up music-philes worldwide (especially snobby house lovers). Then there is the Fabric Podcast, a free podcast the began only a few months ago. What I love about this podcast is that each DJ/producer/British musician Ive never heard of mixes together various tracks that had an influence over their growth. This isn't typical dance your ass off music but more music that stimulates and also makes you say "wow I haven't heard that song in years" (provided you've heard the song years before). Most recently British film soundtrack expert, Jonny Trunk has raised the bar on that podcast offering some the the most oddball, beautiful movie and TV soundtracks I've ever heard before. I seriously recommend downloading iTunes (if you haven't already) and subscribing to the Fabric Podcast. Having listened to part one yesterday (starting with podcast #4, all fabric podcasts will now be two-parters), this is the best podcast to pass-out to on a long E-Train ride back home.

Deth-Ups

Nothing beats a hard workout at the gym with a kickin' Dethklok number. Actually, what does beat that is a hard workout accompanied to a song about Murmaid Murder. Because, as frontman Nathan Explosion rationalizes, no finger prints can be traced under water.

There are no fingerprints
Deep under water
Nothing to tie one to a crime
And if you seek vengeance
All you need are instruments of pain
